Blake Cutler 👋

This site belongs to Blake Cutler. Inside you’ll find notes on how to run product organizations that see reality clearly and move fast.

You'll also find charts and dashboards designed to turn data into knowledge. They do this by distinguishing between noise to ignore and signal to act on. They also help you move from observation to orientation by integrating with LLMs. Every page has a .md file that's natively consumable by LLMs and contains prompts designed to drive adversarial synthesis.

21st century trends

The two defining trends of the century are:

  1. Industrialization of intelligence
  2. Aging and sub-replacement fertility

Many other trends, including the looming debt crisis, the GDP growth, and current financial conditions are downstream of these. See more trends here.

Execution

Every organization has a tendency to become chaotic in ways that threaten its survival. I try to bring order by repeatedly and unendingly:

  1. Clarifying intent
  2. Setting clear expectations and tough goals
  3. Establishing a process to reach them
  4. Executing the process
  5. Learning from the results

Analysis

  1. The purpose of analysis is insight
  2. An insight is a shift in orientation that helps you see reality more clearly and act in time
  3. The best analysis is the simplest analysis which gives the needed insight
  4. Most mistakes in analysis come from reacting to noise or ignoring signal
  5. If a graph is worth 1,000 words, then an annotated graph is worth 10,000
  6. Always present data in context; use graphs not point comparisons
